Rash in the mouth, and on the body A rash of red spots appears inside the mouth and on the tongue. The technical term for this is an “enanthem” (an internal rash). The rash next appears on the skin, starting on the face and spreading to the arms and legs and then to the hands and feet. Usually the rash spreads to all parts of the body within about 24 hours. As the rash appears, the fever usually falls and people may start to feel better. By the third day the rash develops into raised bumps (papules). Fever often will rise again at this time and remain high until scabs form over the bumps. |
